You guys may remember this old thread I started.
It's one I have gone back to often to check names of books recommended by you lot.
SO I decided to start a new one with a more meaningful title.
If you want to recommend a book or book series, please do so here.

holy shit thanks for that I'm going to order one
Also I've finished reading a book called 'Empire: Wounds of Honour" by Anthony Riches, set in time of the the Roman Empire in Britain. if you like Cornwell's stuff thats set a bit older like the Uhtred series you'll probably like this too.

That's awesome, I loved the TV series starring Sean Bean, good read too, for the price.

Gideon's Spies by some dude (I cant remember, sorry)
I only read a few pages of it, but it was pretty damn good, it's about the Mossad (Israeli intelligence group). If you're into military/spy books I'd say this would be worth it
Also, I've heard many good things about Bravo Two Zero by Andy McNab (former SAS and Royal Marine); since that he's gone on to about 8 books on the character in Bravo Two Zero, probably worth checking out.
(note: I hardly read, so this is a pretty good honour, me recommending a book)

Bernard Cornwell is good. I've read The Sharpe Books, The Starbuck Chronicles, The Arthur Books, The Grail Quest and The Saxon Stories at least once. Sharpe books 2 or 3 times. At $70 landed I'll make my money back in three years worth of library reserve and overdue fees The Sharpe TV series didn't do it for because they don't have the $$'s and extra's to reinact historic battles. Same reason Master and Commander didn't do it for me though I've read the Aubrey books four or five time. I discovered early on that the written word, enhanced by the readers imagination, is worth much more than a picture's thousand words. Thank you, Penthouse Letters!

A good trilogy worth a read for those who like a good adventure, the Chaos Walking Trilogy by Patrick Ness is superb.
Knife of Never Letting Go The Ask and The Answer Monsters of Men
All top notch.

Now that the Wheel of Time has been completed, I'd like to add another recommendation for it. Brandon Sanderson's writing style starts to stick out a lot by the third of the books he wrote, but I found the underlying story was more than enough for me to enjoy the whole series, despite not liking Sanderson's style.

Got the last book, got confused and started over. Up to book 8 now and i'm enjoying it well enough but FUCK YOU NYNAEVE, FUCK YOU ELANE AND FUCK YOU AVIENDHA! I don't give a shit about your feelings, you're all manipulative irritating cunts! there was at least 3 chapters of their shit at the start of book 8. Also Sanderson is one of my favorite authors, i kind of found it funny how he has this awesome concept that magic needs to have rules and be understandable to discourage the dragon ball Z style of 'i'm like...more powerful now, the story can go on' kind of writing. Yet he's finishing off Raymond Feist's series which pulls plot devices out of a hat continuously for it's entire duration.
