You never get any money- you send them the money. That's how the scam works. They keep saying they need some cash to get things rolling for whatever reason but they keep promising that they'll repay the loan in full plus the original large amount. Once people have been sucked into giving the scammers money, they feel compelled to see it through to the end to get t he big payout- often the scammers can extract multiple payments from the same victims, just for making up bullshit like 'we need to pay bank fees' or something. It can go on for months before people wise up to it.

There was a case a couple of years ago where an old woman in Sydney gave the scammers hundreds of thousands of dollars and mortgaged the family home- it went on for more than a year. She never got any of it back.

Quote
It basically started with vent/msn and unfortunately i didn't log anything or keep record of chat until i became a little suss about what i was investing my money in.
To summarise things i was told that johnny had a side deal with alienware, that he could buy 20 ex-display PC's(the ones from the cod5 launch) for 20K, and that we could look into opening up a lan/internet cafe in WA while we plan to run a massive lan/exhibition. He made it quite clear that during the exchange he wanted no one from the internet to know about this deal.

johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:34 PM:
do u have household contents insurance?
Charlie says:
no, i was meant to be organising that recently
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:35 PM:
until i organise a studio or something, once they are received, ya might need to look at increasing the contents insurance for a month or something, can organise that once delivery is confirmed
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:35 PM:
ok
Charlie says:
coz i was getting house and contents but then i wasnt sure what came under the strata
Charlie says:
and then told i already have home
Charlie says:
so just need contents
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:35 PM:
AAMI are pretty good, if they are in WA
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:35 PM:
ahh ok
Charlie says:
would probably just go with RAC since been with them for ages with my car
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:36 PM:
cool, yeah definitely worth it. Poor quantumx, he got robbed a few months ago, then a fire a few months later
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:36 PM:
cool, prob get a discount too
Charlie says:
since i have full no claims bonus i think i get contents cheaper
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:36 PM:
yeah
Charlie says:
you know what i was thinking
Charlie says:
is if say we sold like 12-15
Charlie says:
and made back our money
Charlie says:
leaving us with 28-25 pc's
Charlie says:
that would be enough to even open up a lan centre for when we aren't running the actual lan event...
Charlie says:
just an idea..
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:42 PM:
yeah
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:42 PM:
thats an idea
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:42 PM:
do u think it would be popular over there?
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:42 PM:
are there many?
Charlie says:
lol
Charlie says:
heaps
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:43 PM:
guess its seperating it from the rest
Charlie says:
fairly cheap too
Charlie says:
they range from about
Charlie says:
$3 an hour to about $12 an hour
Charlie says:
depending on where u go
Charlie says:
but if u got about 25 computers as about 5 an hour
Charlie says:
pretty decent
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:43 PM:
i wonder how much infrastructure is needed for setting one up
Charlie says:
at*
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:43 PM:
yeah
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:44 PM:
what kind of area would u be thinking of here that would need to be scouted
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:44 PM:
i like it
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:44 PM:
to setup
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:44 PM:
CBD Perth?
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:44 PM:
I really have nfi idea of perth at all
Charlie says:
CBD
Charlie says:
it would work well hand in hand
Charlie says:
you could advertise your lan event at the internet cafe
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:47 PM:
need to do some scouting shit when im over then
Charlie says:
and advertise the internet cafe at the lan event
Charlie says:
yeah np
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:47 PM:
start looking for decent shit, wonder what rent is like for those kinds of places
Charlie says:
yeah lots of things to consider
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:51 PM:
but
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:51 PM:
least we got the building blocks
johnny_sisko sent 28/11/2008 4:51 PM:
which is very exciting
Charlie says:
yep

Hey mate,
I just got our confirmed invoice and have fucked something up.
Payment has been received however I didn't see on the invoice that it was an extra 2k for the LCD's (monitors for the PC's). Settlement is due by tomorrow as my dude had already waited for the past week and this was the first chance that I got to look at it properly.
There is no way I can get 2k until late next week, so I am going to have to ask him for our money back. The actual PC's are ready to be delivered, and we can't seperate the LCD's from the PC's. He actually had everything ready to be sent by tomorrow afternoon to your place, but I don't see anyway that we can get another 2k by tomorrow.
I'll be on much later tonight, I can't think of anything as I have already plunged everything I have in to this as it is. If by somehow we do find the additional 2k by tomorrow then the order will still be dispatched and arrive sometime next week.
It was a shame as well, I was thinking of relocating to Perth and working for Westpac there whilst we setup this new venture frown.gif
TTYL.
Johnny.

Hey mate,

Sorry was meant to get this to you last night. Yeah they aren't going to wait, I didnt see the other page of the invoice that we were billed for the LCD's as well. I am short now around $1200 as I have managed to find $800. So I am going to have to ask for our refund, unless we find it somehow by the end of the day.

Trust me, I have exhausted all options to try and find it. We had alot of potential with this idea too!

Hey man,
Both the PCs, LCD's and equipment are in a courier storehouse in Adelaide, they left Alienware last week and was all picked up. They have been dispatched, Qantas freight advises however that no insurance was paid for with delivery. Also, in order for it all to be covered mobile insurance needs to be purchased prior to them loading it up.
We have two options here.
Rent a budget truck and pick everything up ourselves early Jan, of which we still will need to purchase insurance. Or pay for the insurance for transport, plus the coverage of them for theft/damage etc once they get to your house.
Im gonna leave this one up to you anyway man. Total cost to get the 80k of equipment insured for one year plus transport insurance is 1.7k. (covers moving the equipment for the year as well whereever)
I just got the loan to pay ya nan back, so not sure what you wanna do (which u should have any day now). How long is the drive if I rented a budget truck from Adelaide, to Perth? About a day?
Ill be in WA this time next week, can try and sort something out then, I was hoping however that all this was going to be delivered this week. I don't know why I didnt even think of insurance on shit. Apparently, their is a limit to companies that deliver expensive and bulk items that they dont want to risk.
Let me know dude.

Hey mate,
Got ya msg this morning. I know, it seems one thing after the other, but really, not having anytime to organise this kind of thing, and with the opportunity presenting itself the way that it has, I don't think we had the time to research all the shit we needed to do.
Have you got the $$ to give to your nan yet as it should have arrived in to your account. We are going to need to borrow it again until next week. I want all the shit at your house before x-mas and not left in some courier shed, especially without some kind of insurance cover.
You may need to ask your Nan if it's ok until next week, I will give the cash to you in person. If it hasn't arrived, the transfer, you may need to check if it's ok for an additional extension. It's either that, or we risk organising all this in early jan. You have my details.
With everything insurance protected, there is nothing else that can go wrong. There has only been two hiccuops, this and the LCD's, so that ain't bad for the size of the op were handling.
I'll be on much later, however if we can have it all organised tonight, then we can finally have all this sorted for once and for all.
Also, happy to cast the 6v6 with Glimmer.
Talk later tonight, try and organise this today if you can. Will be afk until later.
Cheers mate
Johnny

Hey man,
No unfortunately, this one covers everything including possible loss of profit in a business venture as well. And it's effective immediately so the shit can get moving.
Will you have time to organise it today?
Johnny.

I'm guessing ya didnt get time today.
If ya can tomorrow by lunch time, it will mean that everything will get delivered by the time I get over next week, so we can sort through all the shit at your joint etc.
Cheers mang.

Can we organise our own insurance? My mate reckons we don't need a 12 month policy just an insurance to travel from there to here and he reckons it wont be as much as this is.
My grandma will lend me the amount for longer but i definately have to pay her back.

Cheerz,
Charlie

Hey mate,
Heres the quote for the insurance. I need to organise it today. Any possibility that if that transfer hasn't come through, that your Nan will borrow you the cash until I see you next week? I need to organise delivery before the freight centre shuts down. If it's all good, email me and re-deposit in to the details ya did last time. I'll then organise it this afternoon. The total is $2200.
Talk to ya tonight.
Here's the info I got sent. I'll copy paste the insurance info:

Hey Charlie,
Ok where to start here.
Firstly I think somewhere you have not received emails from me. I have been out of service as I am out at a farm visiting family with no internet access, only on nextg when I am in town. I have sent two emails since christmas, one including the invoice before I left home as I dont have it with me. So I am sending from another email address.
Secondly, I sent two emails asking whether you wanted me to deposit the funds directly in to your nans account, or in to yours, or to put both amounts in to your account. I can do this at any time. Due to either my end not receiving your emails, apart from your latest one or what, I dont know. But I need to know this and I will do it asap for you.
Secondly, we did not make payment in time before the courier shed shut until after new years. I thought that if we made it on the Saturday we would have been fine, but as you know I went to Adelaide to inspect everything and it was all good to go as soon as they reopened as only their admin office was open.
Thirdly, to threaten me with police is really unbelievable. I can understand from your point of view, but from mine I have been open and encouraged a full refund at all points. I could have easily done this for you at any point. And you are correct, if you have doubts then its best that I just fully refund you for everything. I am sorry if this has put strains on your family etc, I was unable to predict this venture, and remember I am currently a shit load out of pocket as well, approximately 17k.
I will be able to do this next week when I am in town next (refund), I am due in Perth Monday week which was to hopefully coincide with the delivery of everything.
I dont know if we are victims of failure of technology from either end or what as both of us seem to not be receiving emails. However, I think it's best a clean slate is worked out.
Also, I did give you my mobile number several times during all of this. I don't know why you never called me or left a message. This was the only time, apart from the initial time I asked for it for courier purposes that you gave me yours. A shame this hasn't worked out, I dont know where the communication has gone wrong.
Cheers dude,
Johnny.

See, i still don't know if this is legit.
You still haven't sent me an invoice now to prove it's legit, you still haven't rung me.

I told you more than once i lost your mobile number because you sent it over msn rather than through email, ive given you my mobile number a hundred times via email.
Can't you see, i have 0 in return, not one thing you have promised has been delivered, i would like to trust you but my trust has been worn thin.

Theres nothing more id want than this to be all true, for us to start a business, but the lead of events make it extremely negative.
You tell me you can give me a refund anytime, how come you still haven't sent me the 1800 or whatever it is then, just telling me that you didn't know whether to put it in my grandma's account or w/e doesn't sit well with me. I have asked a number of times to put it into mine, and i know you have internet access, why not do it through internet banking.

Like i said, im still waiting for all of this, and it's beginning to leave me with no choice.

Charlie

I thought you wanted it bank deposit, $1850 has therefore been transferred via internet banking.

Wtf happened to the GS cast last night? nGR are laughing at it. I felt sorry for Glimmer, was Momo/St3r noone else available instead of 007? Man, Glimmer sounded like he had to work his arse off during it.

-----------------------------------------

Still... no money was transferred into my account.

So basically i have lost 4.3K of my own money to mr sisko and he's nowhere to be seen or heard. I believe i am not the only one to have been scammed, and this is a warning to anyone else who may still be listening to his rubbish.
The police are involved.

Today i received a phone call from the Victorian Police...

Recently he was arrested by police in Victoria and questioned on a number of stealing claims.
The suspicions surrounding Sisko were confirmed, Mr Johnny Griffiths has a gambling addiction.

He is in lockup and charged with several accounts of stealing, he is awaiting a court appearance on Tuesday.
The police told me that it is highly unlikely i will see my money again, Johnny has no money and will end up serving time.

That is a little scary.
it is and i assume you know who Johnny Sisko is aswell and how well known he was

and for those that don't picture chal doing the same to someone here
as johnny was a captain of a respected clan, GA Game Op and started NGR

can you give us a tl;dr please
if you want cliffs - first and last lines of the first quote

or if still to much

It basically started with vent/msn and unfortunately i didn't log anything or keep record of chat until i became a little suss about what i was investing my money in.
To summarise things i was told that johnny had a side deal with alienware, that he could buy 20 ex-display PC's(the ones from the cod5 launch) for 20K, and that we could look into opening up a lan/internet cafe in WA while we plan to run a massive lan/exhibition. He made it quite clear that during the exchange he wanted no one from the internet to know about this deal.

This has to be my favourite scam story ever...

twas on the glass house a few years back

Quote
Many of us have been angered by endless scam emails and letters offering millions of dollars if you send details of your bank account and some money to clear the way.

But a computer operator in the UK decided to do something about it. He decided to scam the scammers, and ended up getting $129 from them in a hilarious sting.

Computer "scambaiter" Mike (no surname given), 42, received a random email from a man claiming to be Prince Joe Eboh, chairman of a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Eboh said he needed to get money out of Nigeria and was offering to transfer $US25 million to Mike's account if he would send his bank details. Mike was promised $6.25 million if he helped.

Mike sent an email back, calling himself Father Hector and saying he would love to help but he could only have business dealings with members of his religious order, the Holy Church of the Order of the Red Breast.

Eboh said, of course, he would convert. Mike sent him details on how to paint a red circle over his breast to join.

Eboh duly sent Mike a picture of himself with painted breast and signed a membership form vowing not to covet his neighbour's ass, to never listen to hip-hop and to honour the words of church guru Shiver Metimbers. Eboh pleaded for $18,000 to register the church in Nigeria so he could transfer the $25 million.

Mike hit back, saying that under church rules he had to pay a clearance fee of $80 before he could withdraw $18,000. As a monk he had no money and asked Eboh for it.

Surprisingly, Eboh sent Mike the money by courier, which cost him $49. Eboh was down $129. He then got a message from church elder Father Mike Myers saying Father Hector had run off with $18,000 in church funds.

Father Hector sent a last email telling Eboh he had lost the money investing in a business exporting snow to Siberia and run off to join a circus.

so in conclusion the nigerian painted a red circle on his breast....what a tit..

and spent $129 on his own scam..

Mizuho Trust & Banking Co., Ltd.
The Master Trust & Bank of Japan,Ltd.
8-4, Izumi 2-chome,
Suginami-ku,
Tokyo 168-8507

Dear Friend,

Compliments of the day!
I got your contact on my private search for a reliable and trusted person to handle a transaction of this nature. I know that the contents of this mail might sound so strange, but I want to assure you that every word of it is true.I am Mr.TAKAHASHI Yuichiro, credit officer of the Mizuho Trust & Banking Co., Ltd.I have a concealed business suggestion for you. Before the plane crash of macedonian's president and his cabinet members on February 26, 2004 , our client Anita Lozanovska from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, macedonia and also business woman  made a numbered fixed deposit for 24 calendar months, with a value of Seventeen Million,Nine Hundred Thousand United State Dollars only in my branch. You can visit this
website:http://antiwar.com/deliso/?articleid=2043

After his death it was also discovered that Anita Lozanovska did not declare any next of kin in her official papers including the paper work of her bank deposit. And she also confided in me the last time she was at my office that no one except me knew of her deposit in my bank. So, Seventeen Million,Nine Hundred Thousand United State Dollars is still lying in my bank and no one will ever come forward to claim it.What bothers me most is that according to the to the laws of my country at the expiration Seven years the funds will revert to the ownership of the Japan Government if nobody applies to claim the funds.Against this backdrop, my suggestion to you is that I will like you as a foreigner to stand as the next of kin to Anita Lozanovska so that you will be able to receive his funds.

WHAT IS TO BE DONE:
I want you to know that I have had everything planned out so that we shall come out successful.I have contacted an attorney that will prepare the necessary document that will back you up as the next of kin to Anita Lozanovska ,all that is required from you at this stage is for you to provide me with your full names and address so that the attorney can commence his job. After you have been made the next of kin,the attorney will also file in for claims on your behalf and secure the necessary approval and letter of probate in your favor for the move of the funds to an account that will be provided by you. There is no risk involved at all in the matter as we are going to adopt a legalized method and the attorney will prepare all the necessary documents.

Please endeavor to observe utmost discretion in all matters concerning this issue.Once the funds have been transferred to your nominated bank account we shall share in the ratio of 60% for me, 35% for you and 5% for any expenses incurred during the course of this operation.Should you be interested please send me your private phone and fax numbers for easy communication and i will provide you with more details of this operation.
Your earliest response to this letter will be appreciated.

Kind Regards,
Mr.TAKAHASHI Yuichiro.

i get heaps of these types of emails at work - makes me laugh at how stupid these people think we are - iv written back to a couple just to see if i recieve a reply which i did.

u know along the lines why dont i just send you my credit card details so that you can cut to the chase and take all my money!!!
