Nice find Donut.
The macedonian empire is amazing when you consider it was one army that conquered all of that in a decade or so. Talk about KDR's, check out the Battle of Gaugamela, the Macedonians took on an army twice their size, on ground their enemy had chosen and prepared for the battle. The persions used scythed chariots, so they chose a flat plain that they removed all large rocks from to maximise their chaiots effectiveness. The macedonians, had just short of 50,000 men, the persians had almost 100,000. Macedonian casualties were around 3,000, persian casualties around 40,000. Alexander the great is an interesting character to study, definetly laid some of the foundations for our modern society. The guy was taught battle by Phillip of Macedon who was a military genius in his own right. Phillip was teh first general to use mixed forces that included cavalry, in a time when phalanxes were the accepted norm. At 13 Alexander was put under the tutelage of one of the greatest philosphers of all time, Aristotle.
I thought the French and British empires were notable absences.

I think that's because it predominantly focuses on the Middle East and the British empire spanned the globe, while the French empire was mainly in Western Europe. It does mention 'European Colonialism' around 1912 which probably covers the Poms at their empire's peak.
