The only good thing about a V8 is the noise and rumble. Rotisserie's for the win. Plus you can argue all you want. what happened when the R32 GTR got on the mountain against the V8's, it used the V8's to wipe its bottom. Don't get me wrong I love V8's and so forth but I think with the proper tuning and spend the same money on both cars and import will always win. end rant

Wow your so miss informed it's not funny. I believe your take on a V8 is a pre 80s classic muscle car. So yes in this instance your correct but take a closer look. Your comparing a car that was primarily design to go fast in a straight line vs japs version of a super car. classic muscle cars are usually have a high ride, are heavy and are rear wheel drive vs a low, light, 4WD. Tacking the individual setups and driver ability out of the question then yes your 32GTR should win. But if it was just a stock T the good luck.

But for the fun of it lest say your 32GTR goes against a typical V8 like an Audi S4. my money would be on the V8.

Now for a more realistic scenario XR6T vs 32GTR. the 6T stock, the 32 crap exhaust, puff valve, intake.

Win = low revving 5psi 4L 6cyl
Loser = mod revving ???psi 2.6L 6cyl

Also add the the fact the the 6T is a full 4 door family saloon and the 32 is a 2door Sports 4WD coop.

Drop the same block into a dif car, compensate for the engine weight (more forward or back) to a good comparison.

Anything you do to a smaller engine you can also do to a big engine and results will be bigger too.

Its just that most of the cars with big engines are also big cars.

The best example if the Bugatti Veyron.
8.0L W16 - 4 turbos and 1000hp.


But you can easily get 1100hp from a 2.7 litre with 1 turbo. Mind you its a RH9 R34 GTR fro Croydon but hey its only 2.7litres. And then there is a 2.0 evo running 10sec all day down the quarter at 700hp.

Ah seriously good luck with that. if you can build be( in you garrage, buy your self, without any help) an 1100HP engine from a stock RB26 within a couple of days on a budget of 5K and using a turbo no bigger then a GT3580, no nos, no blowers THEN I would consider that you know what your on about.

Oh and the evo, i think it would be more comfortable to drive a go-cart down a mountain hillside(on the terrain) then be inside that thing.

I think their is a mis communication. I was comparing a 8l V16 quad turbo 1000hp 1.5million dollar car vs a 150k 2.7l 6 cylinder 1 turbo 1100hp car. Both street registered and driveable. Both cars do around 10sec quaters but the V16 can push the limits beyond 400km/h whereas the GTR pushes 340.


Next I was comparing displacement. cc's 6.0litr + vs 2.0lit + regardless of configuration. ( 4cyl 6cyl and 8 cyl). Classi example. Stock cars. Corvette zr1 vs porsche gt3 7.0lit vs 3.6lit.
cheaper rx7 FD 1.3lit vs 6lit ss V8 or stock evo 9 vs Holden GTS.

Because what was said is there is nothing like displacement, and I disagreed. thats all. Yes you can spend a fortune on cars but there is nothing like a powerful car with equal weight distrubution rather then having a ginormous engine in the front that goes fricken fast then when it comes to the corner it understeers like a bitch on heat. I've built many engines and cars in the past. Big and small. 2 Ford 351 V8's, 3 rotories, 1 6cyl and a 2 4 cyl. Ford, Mazda, Nissan and Mitsubishi. Been there done that. Spent a fortune on cars and now I'm happy with what I got. I was only disagreeing with the Displacement theory.

You did says easily build a 1K+ HP engine form a 2.6 base.

Put the vet engine over the rear axle of the GT3 and i think we would break a few records right there. But also the GT3 has a boxer engine. apples vs apples. we are only comparing displacement. Same goes for rotaries

and for the comparison what are you atempting to achive?? straight line, mountain?

why line up a rally car against a family saloon. compare that evo against something like an GTR,  Rex.  and that's just keeping it low budget and 4WD

agree on the weight distribution. but imagine a ZR1 engine over the rear axle or more mid in a GT3. power fuck yeh, weight fuck all.

Or image if GM went as bunkers as Porsche do with their engines

hay MrX just on that note the zr1 with it's big V8 went around the Nürburgring faster then the GT3,GTR R35. i guess big V8's aren't that bad at corners too.

it run 10.95 @ 129.96mph on pump gas , no poser NOS bottle

i must admit though i had never really looked at skylines and thought they were supercars, sure i watched the bathurst races but they didnt seem that quick until i lined up against one and i have to be honest in saying ,
it was DAMM QUICK UP UNTIL ABOUT 160kmh but then the v8 had those extra legs to get it home.
the skylines pass was 12 secs or something

IMO you cant beat aussie muscle , aus engines rev that hard you think they will blow but they dont

all aussie cars are the best in the world sure they dont look very sexy but man do they fly
