ie Early adopters please help!!!!
This style of development is the new norm for software.
For those that care read this book by Eric Ries

http://www.amazon.com/Lean-Startup-Entrepreneurs-Continuous-Innovation/dp/0307887898/ref=la_B004VIDMR0_1_1/191-0579119-4025522?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1412155812&sr=1-1

It's exactly the same development strategy that is putting 'early access' games on steam. It's actually very clever, it's cool to see Microsoft take it on board, it almost guarantees a superior end product.

the funny thing is that some distros from linux (note arch linux) has been doing this for a while now. from my understanding there was a project called windows blue a while back that was going to go this path but it did not pan out at the time.

if they do the rolling release for windows it will make so many features less of a fuss. though i can see it being more of an issue for servers. it also could mess with some thinking in the enterprise market for the SOE for a business.

1. Stop changing the fucking background colour on the curtain behind your haircut.
2. Fuck me, are you preparing to go bald? The come over hair to the side is like you're prepared for the top of your head to lose everything and then get ready to come it from the side of your face to the back of your skull. Lose the Beiber look.

I did listen and have similar thoughts, it appears to be early access style marketing as Bageled has pointed out. I did however question some of the features.

Putting the start button / icon back, really will shut a few people up as most generations I have come across find that to be their safety blanket, and changes away from that are bad. (watch the Croods movie)

However, The start menu looks good to have back, the favourites style on the start menu seems meh. I have a bunch of favourite shortcuts on my desktop that I click on, but I see the advantages. You don't have to minimise to click a desktop shortcut, just press Start and click the favourite without closing anything. Seems like a croos class between Win8 and Win7. But this is early judgement from me.

Is anyone here going to partake in it?

I also actually like the tiles in the start menu. It's not a bad feature, it just sucks in 8 where it takes up the whole screen and replaces the standard list by default.

If they do just focus on releasing a few good features at a time, and thinking them through well and implementing each one properly before release, it'll be a good model. My fear is that as Bageled pointed out, they might go for some kind of subscription. I don't know if that just means you stop getting updates if you stop paying. The EU would probably throw a fit if Microsoft decided to brick the computers of people that didn't pay up.

Apparently they skipped 9 because there are a lot of shitty programs out there that check the windows version string - so anything that begins with 'Windows 9' is assumed to be windows 95 or 98
