It seems a bit pointless to me. Android phones can take more storage on an SD card, and have mobile internet built in. If it had 1TB of storage, then it might be useful.

So a mobile phone can do all of these?

Mobile NAS
Personal Cloud
Phonebook backup
Power bank
Wireless AP
In-vehicle media server
USB 3.0 SSD

My phone does pretty much all those things.
It has 32gb of files I can access, negating NAS need.
Personal cloud, I use the real cloud, and phone storage, no need.
Phonebook backup, handled by Google.
Power Bank, well my phone has 48 hours of battery life.
Wireless AP, I can create a mobile hotspot and share my 4G, or just use it myself.
In-vehicle media server, I can stream music using bluetooth. My car can't access a server by itself, so it doesn't need a server.
The last point is the only one my HTC One M8 can't handle.

No. It isn't. I wasn't trying to be a smart arse, I was just explaining that I can't see a use for it. It's an interesting idea, I just feel it's lacking in some critical areas for it's use.

The one here is being used as an in car media center for others to watch movies, the SD card slot is used for the digital cameras to move photos off, and USB 3 for fast speeds to fill it up with junk.

Just something I never seen and wanted thoughts on - not 'burn' on.

Thinking about it more, if it could USB host, you could plug in an external hard drive and share files off that. I couldn't find any mention of it being able to do that, but if it could, it would turn it into a device that would be actually be really useful at home or travelling.
If it could then buffer files from the external hard drive onto it's SSD, you'd ensure movies wouldn't stutter.

Unfortunately it looks like it uses the usb port for charging. It needs a second host usb port.

I hear what Zoo is saying, but sometimes your phone isn't the best, or preferred choice. I could see this device working as a portable media centre. Wifi or Bluetooth media to ipads, possibly simultaneously which would be good for two kids in the back seat you want to keep entertained. Use it share internet connection across multiple devices, which would be good for a holiday or mobile business application, especially if you have a 3g dongle. The memory capacity is a bit it for me though. You could put a 64 gig micro sd card into it I suppose, but that is still low these days.
Still the portability and connectivity could make it useful, though it seems a bit of a swiss army knife to me though, it can do a lot of things poorly, but makes up for that by being very portable.

This is more what I see as needed. 1 or 2 TB, auto backup of SD cards, WiFi, Battery. Then you can just share mobile net from a phone to it, and you've got hundreds of high quality DVD back ups.

Sorry its a fail - (so they say) as it doesnt sync with a QNAP nor have a NIC on the side nor a power bank.

And more expensive.

In summary, Its a lemon, this is a orange. (Just relaying)
