With MWO 8 man drops so chaotic and unreliable I would have to vote for PS2. However Monday night on MWO was so much fun I don't want to rule it out and would humbly suggest we make Monday night Mechwarrior a regular feature for those who wish to play.
Having now played PS2 I would like to change my vote to MWO. Failing that TF2.

Having now played PS2 I would like to change my vote to MWO. Failing that TF2. Don't like it Toki? I can see its appeal and I don't dislike it, but as a social game I don't think it works. The immensity of the game is counter productive to the social atmosphere; for example there are no breaks in the game in which to talk and relive moments from the game. I would have greatly enjoyed playing as one team in TF2 or fighting through 8 person drops using a roster of some type. However, I may be in the minority in which case I am just making my opinion known and I wish you all the best in future events.

After last night I totally understand your points. It is difficult to co-ordinate a large group of people of different experience levels effectively in PS2, whilst keeping a jovial atmosphere and letting people have free reign to dick around.
If people are micromanaged then they don't get to chat, laugh and stuff around as much but if they aren't micromanaged then people get split up and wander off. I'll admit that I failed somewhat last night as I had difficulty striking a good balance. Not changing my vote, but a TF2 social night would be A Good Thing IMO.

My statement still stands that leaving the big fight to go take a powerful platoon of 2 full squads to sit around points was always going to be a bad idea.

You didnt fail anything DirtyHarry you did fine mate , besides my net connection dying for 20 mins i had an enjoyable time fighting with everyone and im looking forward to more ps2 social events, even a squad of 5 or 6 is still a lot of fun. imo splitting people into different teamspeak channels depending what squad your in and evening out experienced/inexperienced players in each of those squads is a bit much for a social event. Although theres multiple squads per platoon ingame we should just call our platoon a BIG SQUAD and stick to the one teamspeak channel so everyone can talk to everyone and we dont have that split through our coms and we work together to take those nasty biolabs n shit as a team instead going off in our separate groups . Strength in numbers i say! also more bodies for us full time medics to revive haha thats my 2 bob

Really, there aren't many video games that can cater for the sheer volume of people we have turning up to the game nights. We had like 20+ people come on sunday. PS2 is probably the best solution, seeing as the server size is very large, but I can see MWO as being a smaller alternative for obviously, smaller groups of people.

Tf2 supports 24 players normally, and we can book out own private server. There are pub servers out there with up to 32 players.

Really guys? You don't pay ANY attention to your surroundings?! That train has no more than a dozen kills on me after a fair amount of solid TF2 play during my life.
