I just saw that ever anticipated AC3 video.

No.
at least I expected to be disappointed, so they certainly scored in that department

Are maps in ARMA 3 persistent? Can tactics stretch over days, weeks, maybe even months? Also note that there are multiple continents running simultaneously, not just that one map in Planetside 2.

But are all those continents on one actual map, where you fly from that one directly to the next? Or do you have to load each continent? and for ARMAs persistence it depends on the server/mode.

There are persistent gamemodes, but ARMA never got the publicity nor the player base it deserves to uphold these large persistent games. Recently with the DayZ mod, there have been an inflow of over 200,000 people buying the game, and ARMA 3 looks to absolutely total smash copies sold of ARMA and ARMA 2 collectively. Plus not alot of ARMA's gameplay comes from Player vs Player combat, most of it is Co-Operative missions and tasks.

tl;dr Can be persistent, but best co-op games ever made. ARMA 3 looks good.
