http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-04-26-battlefield-3-the-state-of-play

As posted on another forum.
I think it's too long to quote in its entirety here, so I'll pull out a few gems from our favorite DICE executive producer.

Quote
Of course, three months before shipping, I would have loved to have said, f*** it, let's ship it six months later. But you can't do that when you're that close. I don't like developers who push their dates. It feels a bit like, come on, I want your game. You promised it. And now you're saying it's not ready.

Confirmed, rushing a product out to meet a deadline is better than withholding it to better ensure a more stable, bug-free, and enjoyable experience.

Quote
So am I happy? Absolutely. Am I satisfied? No. Absolutely not. I think we can do much better. We can push this even further.

Not COD enough! Needs more COD...

Quote
We have people only looking at telemetry, matching that towards the feedback that people actually write in forums. In a lot of cases it doesn't match up. It's like, no, this isn't a problem. You claim it's a problem. It's not a problem. The numbers tell me this is not a problem.

The almighty telemetry > forum feedback.

Quote
One interesting one is, people have been complaining about Operation Metro in the original game, that it's tight infantry, it's not Battlefield, people hate this, this is what makes people move away from Battlefield. Actually, it's the most popular map on all platforms.

[Interviewer]: Why do you think that is?

It's a great map. It's an awesome map.

No comment needed.

Quote
But there's a reason why we also revealed the future expansion pack, Armored Kill. Armored Kill is quite the opposite. It's the complete polarised version of Close Quarters, where it's only about the big open landscapes, it's only about vehicles and the more tactical way of playing Battlefield.

Doesn't jive with Gustav's comment "we can't forget about the infantry!"

The second bit of news.
Nexon looking to buy EA (rumor)

http://au.games.ign.com/articles/122/1223835p1.html

If this does eventually happen I wonder how it will change EA as a publisher.

a comment on that site
Quote
Nexon are the guys who publish Maple Story, Vindictus, etc.
I know exactly why they have so much money. People talk badly about some of the big gaming companies now a days "ripping people off", yet few people know about Nexon's dark ways. Maple Story was a super addicting game - everyone I know who played it was more addicted to Maple Story than World of Warcraft; that says something. They ripped people off so badly with cash shop items to enhance gameplay, and made it addicting to buy more and more too. It was so addicting that it honestly wasn't uncommon at all to meet kids who had spent $1000+ on that game alone, some even stealing their parents credit cards and what not. I even knew one guy who spent $20,000+ on the game.
You guys think EA is bad now, but trust me, it's about to get A LOT worse if this is true.

The result?
Maybe a Battlefield MMO...

Third bit.
Donya Fortress (Close Quarters) Trailer.

Breakdown.
<iframe width="854" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/2k7846qgg00?fs=1&start=" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I can imagine Chals response at the 4.30 mark.

soz for double post but:
"Battlefield has great guns, great movement, we have all these things including destruction that should make this a better experience."

FFS GOD ALMIGHTY

"It's a double edged sword. The traditional Battlefield player that loved Battlefield 1942 and today claims we're not building a proper Battlefield, we've been selling so many copies of Battlefield 3 now that there is no one Battlefield player."

More copies sold = better gaming experience?Huh??

They added the SPAZ-12!   zomg caint wait to shotgun some cunts in the face

This map actually looks like alot of fun without having to haul ass between massively distanced out caps.  All you haters need to get the sand out your vagina's and be positive that theres EVEN a bf3.  imagine a world in which there is only COD Sad

on another note,  TAR / SPAZ12 / ACR / AUG are direcly from Modern Warefare.

ahem, Operation Metro is an awesome map? one of the only reasons I played it at all was because it was one of the maps I didnt drop out of so much.
Also in terms of popularity, 2fort is likely to be TF2's most popular map (it was in my time at least) and it is certainly not the best map
