While its a good idea, this will not compete against the console market for one simple reason.
The software it runs, you still need windows.

In order for something like this to succeed i think it would need an OS built for just gaming like consoles.
I would hope one day valve software would do this, build a pc based console machine that just runs steam and only steam.

I too have dreamed of that day, but it'd be hard for BF3 when EA think they can be top shit with origin (which has been awful in my experience).

but then it wouldn't be a gaming PC, it'd be an upgradeable console. The flexibilty of Windows is what makes a gaming PC a gaming PC. Once you start making the operating system purpose specific, you've crossed into console land.

To some extent, although what would make it different and stand out from the rest is it has a mouse and keyboard that can be used in game.

Yep, i use my wireless keyboard and mouse on my ps3 when i can't be assed firing up a laptop to surf the webs at home
