Right, so for a while now, my computer's internet decides to behave erratically, with such things as browsers and steam spontaneously deciding there is no internet connection (when I have one), and my computer displaying unusually low connection strength when the household router is at the other end of the house.

A laptop literally beside my computers get about 4 bars strengthm while my computer only ever gets 1 or 2 (which usually allow no internet use whatsoever).

I know the problem shouldn't be the router - we got a new one after the old one broke, and yet the problem persists.

I don't think the problem is with my wireless adapter, as I just upgraded from a D-Lin AirPlus G DWL G510 to a Linksys (same brand as new router) Wireless-N USB Adaptor.

What more can I do to offer more information and perhaps get my internet working normally?

I was on a G wireless an then got a netgear N wireless modem and a n netgear pci card. I found the same shit. My laptop was fine but pc suffered. Maybe it was cause it was on the floor nd the antenna at the back and covered more.

To overcome it I grabbed a cheap Db antenna and plugged it into to pc nic and put the antenna to a better LOS (line of sight) and this solved it for me.

Unsure if that helps.

Cables aren't really an option, I'd need to feed at least 30m of the stuff under doors and through the frequented areas of my house to the router. Not to mention my father who trips over anything there is to trip over, and the dog that chews cables...
