been around for a long time... I've used it a couple of times years ago out of curiosity.
Very slow, works well at concealing the originating source of traffic, but the exit nodes have a number of exploits against them that can mean that someone can snoop on your data (if there's nothing sensitive like your name, address, credit card details etc then they can't track it back to you though).

It's fairly notorious for shady dealings like drugs or child porn. That silk road page that was mentioned a while ago is a popular target for users of tor.

You could use it to get around Steam's region pricing like an overseas VPN does, since it will give you a foreign IP just like the VPN does - but its a bad idea because your steam or credit card details could get stolen.
