I had one made out of some left over pressure pipe. It was 300mm diameter, 300mm depth, 12mm thick and i cut and welded a bit of 12mm plate for the bottom... it was awesome only downfall is it took a little longer to get cherry red and to cool down (due to it being thick), i try to avoid throwing water on it cause steel gets brittle and cracks with rapid cooling like that. I used to melt down copper and aluminium

EDIT: Could even make one out of an old LPG bottle

They would be easily taken out in a battle. I cant see them ever being useful in military applications, in the future maybe when technology is further ahead.
