That was pretty interesting.
I like the point about PC gaming dying because console games are harder to pirate so developers are moving to consoles to protect their work

Its a valid point but consoles are far from immune to piracy. A simple chip or softmod lets you download and play games from the internet just like a pc.

If I have leftover bandwidth at the end of the month I download a heap of xbox 360 iso's even though I've nothing to play them on, purely out of spite.

true, but the majority of console owners are too dumb to know how to torrent. They may mod their console, but they just get their pirated games from bali so it is not quite so big.

Regardless of whether console gamers are tards, it still prevents piracy. I honestly dont think consoles are hurting the gaming industry as much as every one is saying it is. If consoles werent around, yes pc games would be much better in every way, but the industry would be much smaller. PC's while superior in most ways lack one thing, accessibility. You can waltz down to JB and buy a ps3 for 300 bucks, while a pc takes much more planning and dosh to invest. not slagging on pc's but console gamers have a point.

i would add that certain game types play well on the two systems... RTS and FPS are pc all the way, but a game like FIFA is much better  with a console controller than a keybooard and mouse...(for example)

yeah and the latest GTA games are better for controllers (made me think back on the first GTA FUCK YEAH!)

I also like playing Racing games on the TV with friends rather then PC

Adventure-style games like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter, Yoshi's Story etc, play best with a controller. Thing is, there really isn't anything new being developed for console that takes advantage of the controller (aside from the generic sport and racing games that come out year after year).

My love for consoles extends no further than the PS2.

you guys are all saying "better with a controller" not "better on console"

Why not just buy a $40 controller for the PC instead of spending $500 on a POS console from the stone ages

Because most developers appear to be ignorant of the fact that PCs can make use of handheld controllers. The majority of games that work best with a controller, are developed only for console...

Also another thought - I'm not exactly sure, but I'm pretty sure games such as Jak & Daxter just wouldn't have run well on computers from that time (or at least what my family had) when you have a look at the quality and sheer amount of visuals you could get on the screen at once.

Your pC got motion tracking controls dex? Yes i know... you woudlnt use it because youa re too busy jacking off to gay porn.. but not all of us do that. The point is that not all innovations in gaming are about the resolutions  displayed. Gameplay is a more important factor. One of my favorite games of all time is Bomberman. Graphics are pretty rubbish, but the game play is awesome.

Dont get me wrong though.. there is a lot to dislike about consoles too. but considering how cheap they are, it baffles me why someone woiuld claim to be into games wouldnt have one.

also.. i find i use my xobox as a media centre a lot.. in fact probably 50% of its usage is that.. word of advice, those XXX homo films will look a lot better up on the BIG screen...

My favourite type of games are fps and strategy, neither of which are well suited to use with a controller. console fps also pioneered the whole 'get shot and hide for a few seconds to fully heal' style of gameplay which I find unappealing.

Media centre is a valid point but I already got a cheap n nasty pc plugged into my tv with a trackball remote which suits that purpose well. Smiley

The current generation of motion controllers are a nifty concept but at the moment they seem a bit gimmicky; most of the games seem very shallow and are only really good in a social setting. Although with the ps3 move at least you can pretend you're an aircraft controller guiding planes down the runway.
