Well Syk...I'm glad you asked.

I relate this to my 1917 research on glass half full or half empty phenomenon as it IS strikingly similiar.

Zebra's it has been scientifically proven, largely thanks to my work, are white with black strips....here's how they get them.

You see Zebras are originally a predator and meat eating speciecs of horse that originally roamed the amazon rainforest. The rainforest originally had only wild horses but then the great Tiger god Tygra..who incidentally was a thundercat...got pissed one night, felt a bit frisky and trapped and fucked the shit out of one of the wild horses.

Soon the white mare gave birth to an abomination..a young foal had razor sharp teeth and was white with black tiger stripes on account of the paternal tiger god father.
The foal was soon on its feet and the young mother urged the foal to play with the other young ones. The young half tiger, half horse beast cautiously and slowly wandered into the long grass, intending to frollick with the other young ones...but as he stepped slowly into the grass, other..darker instincts took over as he felt the grass brush against his legs and watched the tender, juicy young horses leap and bound in the grass.
He lowered himself into the grass and began to stalk the other young, getting nearer and nearer, but as this was his first time he was spoted by one of them who pranced up to him and said "what the fuck are you doing?".

Nearby the mother horseys were snapped out of their grass chewing by the squeals and screams of their young and rushing to the area found nothing but severed horse heads and dismembered carcasses and in the midst chewing hungrily on a hind leg was our young half tiger half horse.

Banishment from the herd soon occurred and he took it hard and as the years went on the herd would catch fleeting glimpses of him as he followed in their wake and they lived in constant fear of him. He had perfected his stalking and would frequently pounce on a foal or trap a mare and rape the shit out of it. Soon more of these beasts were born and generations later they had wiped out all horses from the amazon and only they remained....incidentally they ate all the Mayans, mystery solved.

Soon their food sources were depleted and they began their long migration to Africa. Thousands of years have past and as generation after generation has attempted to eat hippo's who's thick skin would blunt their teeth, their fangs have dissapeared and they are forced to eat only Grass and shit now...but if you look into the eyes of a Zebra, you will see only hatred and animalistic hunger for your flesh as they still retain the tiger within.

p.s. If the question ever comes up I recommend stating confidently that they are actually red and taking the child to the Zoo, shoot a zebra with a shotgun and loudly proclaim "see...red!"
