while it is good - rolling it out to all of AUS makes us a large WAN. So when you go to download 'pirates' from Jonny in Umpa land who is on 2mb adsl you wont get that speed.

A general rule of thumb I use is - A computer or network is only as fast as the slowest device or user your are connecting to.

Therefore - if ypu play inside AUS - your fine. If you play with the world no matter what speed you have - its the other person who your really throttled down to.

The NBN is only good for companies and AUS users who need it for local use IMHO. Going outside that - you taking chances on other countries infrastructure.

NBN was recently switched on in Armidale. I actually know a couple of guys from the big credit union based there (over 300 staff) and they were paying well over a million dollars a year to get 2megabit to each site. They are stoked about this as this means they will save $$$ on network/bandwidth costs and it will also be easier for them to expand to other sites now as the bandwidth costs and availability was their biggest constraint.

In summary, NBN owns, fuck tha haters. Can't wait till we get it here, it will make my job a shitload easier

I aint complainign on the NBN too much - I am pissed at our fucking retarded government giving C-QLD (where I am moving to) the green light to become an industrial hub of QLD via rail, ports (insanely large natural harbour / port) and air (new airlines moving in) along with the 50 billion LNG project, the QAL, power station, ICI, Orica, Rio, GPN, and every other fuckign company moving in, yet - tell us that we dont qualify for the NBN due to no required need.

Fuck me dead - so all that industry doesnt require technology ?

Fucking muppets. As I am in the middle of struggling with a DFS between Gladdy, Rocky, Blackwater and Biloela and would like to see some improvement.
