Inspired by the voldermort vs Vader in the pic of the day thread, I thought I'd start this thread.

I love a good bad guy, nop hero is complete without a good bad guy.

Personally, I think Vader is the most epic bad guy ever.

Voldermort, pfft, he is pretty poor bad guy, I'd go the Dursley family over Voldermort for a Harry Potter bad guy. The Dursleys are just so deliciously detestable. Before Emma Watson got hot, they were my favorite Potter characters.

I'm interested to hear who you guys rate as your top TV or movie bad guys.

What about skeletor. He was a bad ass mofo cause he was an undead magic wielding psycho. Or what if chuck Norris was really evil. He would be bad ass too.

Not sure if I can top Vader, but these guys are pretty epic in their own ways:

The Master (Doctor Who)

Hades (Disney's Hercules)

Don't much like the new master, although that might be more the fault of Russel Davies than anything. I don't like how he is clearly deranged in the new series and they made up the whole sound of drums thing because he wasn't like that originally. He isn't really full of loathing and hatred like Vader is either- and certainly isn't as much of a badass. Although stealing Nyssa's dad's body was a pretty dick move.

Another candidate for best bad guy is A.M. from the short story 'I have no mouth and I must scream' because of its pure despise and malevolence towards humans.

Quote
"HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE."

Pretty fucked up story, worth reading if you haven't Smiley

Also Dr Claw from Inspector Gadget is a good villain:

The deep raspy voice, the gauntlet, and never seeing his face (gives a similar air of mystery as Vader does under his helmet) make him a badass in my book. And that fucking cat.

Bill the butcher was a good one.

I don't know about Kurtz and Lestat though. I always thought of Kurtz as a tragic figure more than a villain, might have to watch that again.

Lestat, is an interesting one. Tom Cruize did make him into a good villain in the film. I watched that one a few months ago and really enjoyed the character. It was more intersting because Anne Rice makes Lestat the hero of a string of books after Interview, and she gives Lestats actions some more depth that explains everything he does. I can't remember all of the details, but I do recall that he only kills murderers, he has some spider sense that lets him sniff them out. While Louis kills animals for blood, Lestat is out dealing justice to killers.
