http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/33224-trying-to-make-the-game-look-better-getting-rid-of-console-settings/So yea, CryEngine is notorious for using "Cheap" methods of making games look better for consoles, but generally the gaming commuities for PC are left to manually set the settings themselves to make the game look how they should.
For those of you who don't know you can go look up the CryEngine console settings and modify your system.cfg to disable all of the "cheap tricks" that make the game look HORRIBLE (almost criminal in some settings). Such as blurring the WHOLE screen (edgeBlurAA) instead of the specific AntiAliasing settings that can be set. It just makes the game look like watered down urine.
So far I've been messing with the following settings (Note: some may not be used, but i wanted them set to 0 anyways to make sure):
-- User Enhancements --
r_TexturesFilteringQuality = 0 (max Texture quality)
cl_fov = 80 (makes you feel like the pilot, rather than the mech)
r_UseEdgeAA = 0 (removes ENTIRE screen blurring [Fake AA])
r_MotionBlur = 0 (Cures motion sickness)
r_DepthofField = 0 (Cures motion sickness)
r_PostProcessEffectsFilters = 0 (off to be on the safe side)
r_PostProcessEffects = 0 (off to be on the safe side)
r_PostMSAA = 0 (Similar to UseEdgeAA)
r_HDRRendering = 0 (removes HDR eye-shifting, off on the safe side)
r_SSAO = 1 (Ambient Occlusion awesomeness)
r_FSAA = 1 (Full-Screen Anti-Aliasing, not sure if it was on before?)
r_UsePOM = 0 (Makes textures look raised [like rocks], but has issues with Anisotropy, turned it off)
r_TexMaxAnisotropy = 16 (Distant terrain texture awesomeness)
d3d9_TextureFilter = trilinear (Textures look sharper

!)
r_TexturesStreaming = 0 (load all textures on game load, ONLY FOR HIGH END PCS!)
Like i said, half of them probably aren't being used, but it's hard to test each one individually over time. So I'm trying my best to test them, and I'd post screenshots if there was a way to upload attachments internally on this forum for private viewing (ie: so i don't break NDA) but I can't seem to find a way to do that

!
However, before I could only play for a MAX of 20minutes before my eyes melted from my skull. Now I can plat without issue, but i'm still trying to figure out what this "Film Grain" is going on? It's a known CryEngine issue, and there were ways of turning it off before but I can't find a way with the current CryEngine MWO is using to do so.
Cheers,
Grax
