I went and saw Let Me In on the weekend.

Best movie I have seen in a long time.

I have long been a fan of the classic monster mythologies and while the zombie has gotten better, I've been a little dissappointed that the vampire has decended to the soap opera depths of Twilight. Let Me In revitalises the vampire to what it should be, a monster. The director discards contemporary vampire evolutions and uses the classic Stoker vampire mythology, with a the little twist from Stephen King, and touch of the mindless beast that I've always wanted to see in my vampires. The story is told with great subtlety, with no scene where a character explains all the rules. Is she conflicted soul with a horrible secret, or is she pure manipulating evil. I like the pure evil interpretation, it is so much cooler. The violence is mostly off screen, and told largely with sound, better than the graphic torture pron of recent years. The two leads are both young, but both very impressive, and with a little help from a powerful soundtrack, they carry the movie.

I think Matt Reeves, and Chloe Morentz are going to be a household names in coming years, and this film will be remembered as a the co-operation of two cinema greats, like The Shinning was for Kubrick and Nicholson. Reeves first film was Cloverfield, and this is only his second. Morentz is the same, she stole the show as Hit Girl in Kick Ass, and she is just as good as Abbey in Let me In.

Great film, see it on the big screen, not for the visual spectacle, but for the soundtrack.

Swedish one was a top movie, watched it one night on World Movies Channel.

Heard good things about the  yank version, its got HitGirl from KickAss as the vamp and the little aussie kid from the Road.

We have been selling a ton of copies of the book, Let the Right One In, looks great but haven't had time to see it yet.

That was a great film, not entirely enjoyable, but well worth the watch...
