It is really hard..I've tried/had to do this before too and I couldn't...Glass guy came along with a pointy ended hammer and a little tap and it blew out.  Rocks will break a window because they have pointy bits..its all in the pointy bits i tells ya.

Chal, Mythbusters will support that claim. They threw a tiny piece of ceramic off a spark plug at a car window and the whole thing shattered.

Yeah I remember when I was younger and a bit more devious we'd nick spark plugs out of peoples hot water systems..for a similiar purpose
