Dex, I don't know exactly how its calcuated, but it definately isn't static... because person A going through school in 1998 could have gotten a certain mark on all assignments, tests, etc and person B going through, with exactly the same marks in 1999 could have gotten a different OP.  OP is also dependant on which school you went to, the other grades and OPs of other people at the same school etc.

Apparently the factors involved make for a very complex calculation.  But generally, yes, which "banding" of OP you end up with is an indication of how much better/worse you did compared to other people in that state for that graduating year.

Does your OP tell you how smart you actually are, or how smart you are compared to the rest of the state?

Neither, and same goes for UAI, ATAR etc. They just tell you how eligible you are for a certain university course. There are plenty of intelligent people who didn't get a UAI/OP/whatever its called this week.

The UAI was scaled depending on what subjects you did too.

this stuff is getting confusing, is it basically the queensland version of VCE? (Victorian Certified Education, or something like that).

I lol'd at Z00, smoke pot while in christian studies or something like that and you'll have the best time of your life!

WA's changed to ATAR now, used to be TEE last year.

It sucks being in a catholic school and being forced to take religion as one of our 6 subjects, and being a guinea pig for the new course. Also doesn't help that your religion teachers a nut and you spend half your time outside the class for some bullshit reason.

Hey vert,

What is ATAR, and how does it work?

EDIT: From a little googling, it is the same as TEE/TER with a different acronym ?
