I find it hilarious that Vets need to be smarter than Doctors

It depends how far you want to take your medical career. Just doing a degree in medicine is just one step on the path to working as a doctor.

Vets have to look after all kinds of different animals, and each one works in a slightly different way. Doctors have to know about a myriad of medical conditions that affect humans, vets have to know about a myriad of conditions for each different animal, most of which are unique to that animal. As such the basic veterinary degree is probably a little more involved then the basic medical degree.

Then of course you can specialise with medicine, for example you can be a GP or you can specialise in a particular medical field such as endocrinology, cardiology etc. As you start getting more specialised I'd imagine they would tighten up the entry restrictions.

There are specialist vets of course, like the avian vet at Currumbin.

You're always such a party I love taking it up the pooper... it's funny that a vet has to be smarter than a doctor, right?  Just deal with it Kiss

I know the reasoning behind it, I was making a joke... and thanks to my mum being a pediatrician street hooker, I know that there is years of speciality training to be able to give a hummer while hanging upside down in a hotel lobby beyond a medical degree etc... if one was to become a specialist pediatrics surgeon from start to finish and rank it on an OP scale, it would be an OP -183 or something... way higher than a 5, or even a 1... at fucking disabled war vetrans who refuse to shower, it would be a much needed service in the community.

But Jeeze Donut, do you ALWAYS have to be so... damn... practical?  Kiss  Keep it up buddy and I will have to glaze your donut!

What is ATAR?

Back in my day if you weren't stoned half the time you could go on to become a doctor... That's why I design fire sprinkler systems to stop warehouses from burning alot.

Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank, Basically UAI only you can't get 100 in ATAR because you can't be in the top 0% of the state Kiss

Pretty much this... I was seriously over school by the time year 11 and 12 rocked around, never did any regular study or homework apart from assignments that I knew they'd actually check... did maybe 2 weeks of study before the HSC exams and I still ended up getting a UAI of 79.5. Basically an OP of 6, which I'm lead to believe is actually a fairly good score, and people say I'm as dumb as a box of rocks. I didn't go to uni anyway so I didn't really give a shit (I did a traineeship with the Qld Govt after I left school).

I got an OP2... BUT, 10 years later:  I spend my days... *officially* supporting retarded and generally fucked up teenagers and mentally deficient adult students, and teachers who weren't good enough to teach anywhere else... *realistically*, sitting around my office doing sweet fuck all... with a staff of two, who combined have about half a braincell...

Just goes to show a good OP doesn't necessarily mean a good set of life choices to follow LOL

My UAI was pretty poor. Turns out maths is hard when off your face... That'll teach me for doing 3 unit. Although I really blame English. I did very bad in that subject. All they ever made us do was write fucking essays without actually teaching us what was meant to be in them or even how to write a fucking essay.

Still, I probably shouldn't have to down the cemetery to smoke cones those times... Or gotten drunk in English to ease the pain of watching a movie from the 70's.

Does your OP tell you how smart you actually are, or how smart you are compared to the rest of the state?

The way its done in WA is you get scaled and standardised so your "TER" is a position relative to everyone else in the state. ie a TER of 90 tells you that you're in the top 10% of the state. So you could have done shit in all your subjects, but 90% of people did worse.
