Yep I remember getting busted using the internet at night when I wasn't supposed to because the noise woke my parents. After that I figured out that you could go into the modem properties and enter atm0 into the initialization strings and it would mute the noise. If you were a scrub you could just stick a pair of headphones in the socket on the modem but my way was more elegant.

in the modem i had there was a mute option. it was the best but we used that GO internet connection that was free but gave you adds for the whole time you were online

Oh yeah - I recall that too. We had a share place - 2 guys and 1 girl. The girl would go nuts that we turned off call waiting and her friends would be calling her and would not get through. It was very hard to explain to her how important internet porn and levelling up our Everquest characters were. |
