Hey Chalice a few tips when cooking stuff like this
1. a cake tin comes in handy so the cake does not become a feature on the plate Kiss
2. whisking to white peaks well just mean going crazy with the whisking till you pull out and it will make a peak
3. a mold for the base usually helps to get the cook book look  PDT_Armataz_01_34
i am alright at baking, (i have had no complaints) and i have never once made it look like the book  Cheesy
