Indeed mate.        When i went out to QR last year to watch the aus Superbike round,there was this guy riding a GSXR1000 that actually braked into the corners via a power slide..Was bloody amazing to watch

And for total skill, sliding a 500GP - the power on these 200+ hp 2 strokes comes on like a lightswitch. MANY top riders have ended up with perminant injuries sliding 500GP bikes (see, Doohan, Gardner, McGee, Schwantz, etc)
