will do raid 5. only supports sata 2. Not sure if it supports 4tb hdds.
Good luck with that card, i had nothing but issues with my rocket raid an ended up getting an LSI instead.

What OS are you going to use?, id use windows server 2012 with its native dedupe.

i was planning to use plain win 7 for this. i have used server 2012 and there were some things that made it give errors on boot about services not working.

if i had more server HW i would do it.

might look into a better raid card if this on does not work out.

and the card has worked really well but never tried it with a raid on it though....

Device Driver supports Windows 2000, XP, 2003 and Win XP/2003 x64 Edition “VSS Support” .... goodluck don't like your chances in windows 7...

last bios update 2007 so 4tb don't like your chances..

yeah i can only try with the 4tb and see how it goes... might be asking for another with raid card to do it....

as for the drivers the vista drivers work fantastic on 7 and it is built in to ubuntu (only linux os i have tried it with) and it found it by default. that is if i want to go down that path ever again

tried ubuntu with the second pc over the weekend and i dont think it likes that motherboard to much for it kept on crashing
and if your  trying to use ubuntu with existing HDDs it does not like the windows formatted drives to much i think.

I had an interesting thought the other day that at some point when the NBN comes along, my downloads might be throttled by the disk write haha. SSD that backs up to HDD would be cool.
