toki how do u listen to that its like to wierd for me
Metal isn't for everyone Wombat; If you know even a small amount about how music is composed you can respect it as an art form because it is next level stuff. For me Metal is half about resistance and half about letting go and having fun. A lot of pop music is a bout being cool and fitting into a mold e.g. what clothes are fashionable, how to dance etc. etc. Metal is what you might call a counter hegemonic artifact; it rejects the restraints of mainstream society and also analyses its flaws through the medium of music.
Furthermore, there is the issue of content and substance, don't get me wrong I enjoy many genres of music, however it is metal alone that deals with the dark side of the human psyche. Hate, Fear, Destruction, War, are all written about in metal songs and recognising and giving voice to those subjects allows us to understand them better. Additionally, it is important to know that there are others that go through the same experiences for several reasons but these subjects are often intentionally left out of mainstream culture because they are seen as negative and therefore not normal.
Anyway, this is turning into an essay and I doubt that you want to be lectured about hetero-normative gender roles, masculine hegemonic power, and how the mass schooling system is slowly breaking down your will so that you will be a more efficient worker for your neo-liberal capitalist overlords.
