I have been having periodic issues with Microsoft Outlook for a while now and I'm not sure where the problem lays.

Sometimes, MO will stop either sending or recieving emails. It gives me an error message that the password is not correct. I have been just shutting the program down and restarting it, and it works no problem. I can go weeks without it happening, and some times it will happen a few times in the same day.

Beyond me, what do you guys think the problem is?

Are you still using dreamhost? Is the mail through them? I think I fixed your mx records for you a couple of years ago, I think it's just pop3 mail...

yeah got that same problem at work thank god the win 7 upgrade is not too far off......

damit and i use to deal with this every day.... for a mac
usually it is outlook pinging the server to many times so the smtp/pop/imap server blocks it for x amount of time. that is usually what i would check (it is something you can change in outlook)
another thing to check is if your phone is not checking at the same time as your pc is that would also lock you out

other than that you can see if the issue occurs in another client (windows live mail; thunderbird etc)

cordless, I'll do that today see if it helps.

Abba, It's outlook 2003, SP3, I don't know about a back end. I'm not in an office network environment though.

naf, I'm not using dreamhost anymore, but it is still a pop3 email.

Al, my phone isn't checking the emails. That pinging things sounods good to me, can you give me a lead on how to change it? Or is the pinging the term I should take to dr google?

i dont have outlook installed on my pc right now but from a quick search this should be the place to look to change the checking times http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/1974/

if your still having the issues after that try another client for a while, windows live mail (is in the package you can download with messenger) and thunderbird are good ones but the are a bit different from outlook

Just back on this, I found out what the problem is. My internet connection became unstable last week some time and drops out. I now have a level 3 Telstra tech coming out to break my internet. Oh goody.
