Hello all tech savvy people,

I would like to confirm how to set up the QoS on my router to allow Battlefield 3 priority, so that if youtube browsing(for example) is done at the same time my game wont lag out instead the video would just take a lot longer to load.

So far i have setup priority rules for each off the ports that BF3 uses and i want to know if thats how it is meant to be done or am i doing it wrong.

Also if it helps i have a Netgear DGND3700

Cheers

Page 129 of your manual. You can download it from their website. Hopefully that will give you enough information, as I'm not sure how to do it myself. Just bored and on the train Wink

Edit: a little more research leads me to believe that your best bet is to prioritise to the IP address of a particular server. I believe that QoS only prioritises upstream traffic as well. Your best bet might be a way of throttling the downstream speeds of others on your network while you are in game (somehow).

from what i have read it can affect up and down

this site http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/3911795?start=0&tstart=0  though base on a PS3 does give good examples from what i can see here ( have not read fully)

but if you have the ports then this should apply

edit:
just found a link for all the ports https://help.ea.com/article/online-ports-for-battlefield-3

If the router is QOS enabled then all you need to do is set the src/dst and IP/ports.

Just click around you'll find it, or get a better router.
