Well election seems done and dusted. Only thing I learnt was,

"what is the difference between the ALP and a torago van? Come Sunday a torago will still have 8 seats"

Overall. That's a fucking bloodbath of a response from QLD people.

A quote from Kent Brockman: "And I, for one, welcome our new Insect Overlords..."

A powerful, almost unopposed, Liberal National Party government should be interesting... especially as a government employee... I wonder what this will mean for AACC, what department we'll end up under, as apparently one of the LNP's big plans is/was to dismantle the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation and the Department of Environment and Resource Management... *sighs*

You'll just end up as a deployee won't you, in the worst case scenario? Since they don't seem to ever fire anyone or make them redundant?

in which case just do what the deployees at QLD health did - just refuse any position offered to you, and while you show up to work with no position to fill do nothing but surf the web and read books, while still drawing full salary.

Nah, the Liberals have indicated they will increase our funding, so there will be no sackings etc, just policy shifts depending upon our parent department...

But rather annoying, I have a presentation to our advisory board on Wednesday, asking them for $900k for a infrastructure refresh project, but thanks to the change of government that will likely fall on deaf ears now since the board members aren't likely to want to invest until the whole new government thing is cleared up...

I highly doubt there will be a bloodbath in the federal election no one in their right mind really wants to vote for abbott to be Prime minister, If Turnbull was the liberal leader it might be different...

Both parties are fucked. The QLD election wasn't about which party is best suited to run the country, its about the one that's slightly less worse than the other. (This is probably true of every election but its even moreso this time). I think overall most people are pretty jaded with both major parties. If you can look past Katter as the front man, his party actually seems a lot better than either of the two major ones, and is who I would have voted for first.

Just read that apparently an average of 10,000 people in each electorate didn't vote or submitted an informal vote. That's rather telling.

I've been umming and ahhing over getting citizenship over the last decase or so but with the kind of leadership it would give me the privilege of voting for, procrastination was and is the best choice for now - there is no lesser of two evils. Sad
