Only 38% of donations are going to the cause..the rest the producers pocket.  Its been proven that this is shady as hell and should be ignored.  IN fact, 95% of all "help africa" organizations..including red cross, OXFAM etc pocket over 60% of all donations, some is fine...they do need to pay for their campaigns etc...but why are their CEO's driving sports cars and living in multi million $ mansions if they care so much?

The existing government did the exact same thing to get into power over there.

Kony used child soldiers from 1987 - 1994 and hasnt since..because their government also stopped using them, he too stopped.  And we had Rwanda and the world eye on it..so they had to behave a bit more than usual.

He hasnt been seen by anyone (willing to say theyve seen him) in 6 years..he is most likely dead already based off intel gathered.

Read up before supporting this stuff...in short this guy IS a pig, africa is fucked and does need help, but these tools are making money off it....3 months of world profits would sort it out forever, like that'll happen.

Exactly. The thing that pisses me off about this kind of thing is that every man and his dog is suddenly a fucking political activist and a freaking expert on the enslavery of children.

Its fucked at school the amount of people crying and winging over this shit, when they dont know jack shit about the actual cause and effect. And just cause some guy on the internet made a 30 minute doco with information and interviews from FUCKING 2004 doesnt mean that its fucking gospel.

Like I said - charity should start at home. I try to help local when I can, and I dont give money out as I doubt it goes to where its needed, yet I do help my local NFP Apprenticeship company here, I try to teach those who know jack about pcs, and I try to rebuild shit laptops and pcs and give them to those who cant afford them.

That to me seems better than sending $ somewhere that I cant tangibly see what the fuck is going on.

I agree with Syk. I can't say I help out like he does, but I think he's got it right.

I suppose it's just easier for most people to jump on a band wagon.

I do donate blood every 2 weeks (occasionally 3-4 weeks if I cant get a booking), and knowing that I'm saving lives feels good.

OK just kidding - but I sometimes think it would be fun if they drained chalice and gave the blood to some Muslim who cant drink because of religion. That would be an odd call for them.

Not to mention external intervention tends to just cause hatred towards the parties intervening.
Other cultures don’t seem to like the west sticking their noses in uninvited or the west saying we are better and this is how you will do it when they are invited. And sticking it to the west when ever possible, if they have the power.
The west can throw money at the problem but like the guys say not much makes it out the other end. It is really up to Africa to solve Africa's problems.
Maybe building up the infrastructure i.e. roads/power first, so that improving education has some where to be expressed in the form of economic activity, you can’t build a modern economy in a little village where everyone has dirt floors and roads.
I think the west created the problem though as a result of introducing advanced culture, economy and tech to the less advanced areas of the world and some are now stuck between the two extremes, and not particularly happy about it. eg African tribes + cars and guns = Tribal Genocide, Tribal Monarchy + corporations and lawyers = the rape of natural resources, tribal people + small amounts of modern medicine + religious idiocy = massive over population, poor education + over abundance of food + easy lifestyle = Stupid social consciousness e.g. this video and the UN
