Guys

Could use some advice on this. I am copying the WoWp folder from my laptop to a USB drive and I M getting 500k a sec. Which is bs.

Tried my win7 32 bit OS in safe mode just to eliminate anything dud but I still got the same speed.

Anyone know what to do. Will research it tomorrow just right now I downloaded and installed the game so I could copy it over but have hit this small snag.

Cheers. Off to out kids to bed now.

Probably the drive you are copying it to I've had the same issue before writing to drives but can read from them fine

EWdit - tag teamed with the wife

Its a 8GB USB thumb drive - so no real moving parts except for the Laptop SATA HDD.

I did a quick google and it seems like a common theme for some with the answer of use Safe Mode (which I tried)

Will look into this tormorrow I gues.

Well its now running at 1.2 instead of 500k - which is better than fuck all slow - now its just slow.

I tried the folllowing;

Registry Changes
BIOS was updated
Changed the USB properties / Policies to High Performance
Disabled the RDC - Remote Diff Compression
Disabled the Superfetch service
Went to HP website and trolled for HP Drivers and updates but they were all up to date
Checked BIOS - HP CQ61-109TX is upto date also
Applied MS KB 2581464 (This made the small improvement)

Overall - had me buggered but without a different USB Flash device to test with. I can assume its the usb flash drive itself. As I came to work and found a USB ext HDD and got slightly better speeds again.

it could be incompatible hardware on the usb drive. i have seen amazing speeds on one usb but another one on the same port is dead slow

I think this is the 'win' took same USB home and on my PC it blitz'd along at 5 to 10mb. So odd that no matter how much tinkering I did i couldnt improve it.
