Hey guys,

I'm having the most frustrating time trying to fix windows 7 network issues.

I have two laptops of the same build, and both running w7 Ultimate. THe issue im having is they cant see each other, or any other PC/Laptop on the network. They are in the same workgroup, and have correct IP configuration.

Ive tried most suggestions found from google plus put my own knowledge into it. THe whole homegroup BS is shit, no idea why they added it to windows. Anyway, let me know what ya think.

Oh, I just want basic networking functions for filesharing, dont worry about the Homegroup thing.

the home group is ment to make file sharing easy but i dont use it and cannot be bothered most of the time
so i usually go here

then go to here

and here

then here

i make sure all the setting are set so that the pc is seen and that there is no password needed to access the files but that is just me

Any reason why you're using WEP? its pretty weak and can be cracked in a couple of minutes with an automated program like aircrack. You should use at least WPA, preferably WPA2

I live out in the country atm. Doesnt really matter what Protocol I use, neighbours cant reach it and its restricted too the computers we have. If any new Connections appear, I block them. or at least try too. Security isnt the biggest concern.

Sorry but you should always be concerned. The techs I worked with in BNE did shit like mentioned in here and leech n fuck over people's systems. Not nice plus you should practice safe IT processes as often as possible to stay ahead of who knows.

also apart from being more secure it is actually easier to use and setup and has less problems than WEP
well that is at least from my experience

I had similar problem at work recently and it was network discovery that was the problem.
I had 4 PC's and could see 1,2 and 3 from all 4 computers but could see 4 on none including 4.
Network still seems unstable.
