It is a proven fact that 97.6% of tennis players actually grow attached to their balls, some even become smitten and can be seen at night touching their balls gently, bathing their balls, combing their little hairs and tucking them away, whispering a soft and gentle "good night my loves"...before leaving the door open a crack (balls are known to be scared of the dark)
So unsurprisingly when they are forced by the cruel world to bash their loved one's with a racket they need time to build themselves up to it, time to mentally prepare themselves to break the poor balls little heart, so they bounce the ball one last time before letting go...if you listen carefully you can hear the balls chanting "this isnt happening, this isnt happening, how could you do this to me? TO ME?"
FACT - This is why they scream and yell everytime they hit the ball as well, they are actually yelling in anguish, knowing the level of betrayal he/she is commiting on the ball. Its the sounds of their hearts breaking...so sad...so very sad indeed

The other 2.4% of players are like John Mcenroe and suffer from "racket rage", these cruel sons of bitches get a new batch of balls and immediately begin the mental mind games, breaking the will of the balls, tormenting them so much so that when the time comes the balls are eager to die! These arseholes believe that because the balls are embracing death, they will travel that much faster across the court and to their eventual demise.
Professor Rodney P Skirtschnizer of the German instiutute of tafe has proved sufficiently in my eyes that this is false in his famous works - "Touch my Balls" which explores the tennis ball, kinetic energy and hello kitty phenomenon, yet this act of tormenting one's balls still continues today and as there are no laws (yet) to protect one's balls there's not much we can do about people touching and playing with their balls innapropriately or putting their balls on display rather than keep them tucked away (balls are shy you see) and giving their balls the respect they deserve.
