Daylight Savings Explained:
It's bad and dumb. That's the only explanation anyone needs.

seriously my mind is boggled by the fact that half our country still has daylight savings time in the year of our lord two thousand and eleven.
its fucking asinine. Let alone the fact that in Tweed/Coolangatta where work has an office you literally cross the street and have to move your clocks back or forward an hour depending which direction you're going.
fucking get rid of it jesus christ.

I love it, I don't understand why other states don't do it. The days are longer, so we move the clocks forward an hour to take advantage of it. As someone who has often enjoyed outdoor sporting activities until 8pm during summer, in the sun, I think it is awesome. Unlike you cave dwellers, some people actually enjoy the outdoors.

instead of fucking with the time you could just get up an hour earlier in the morning and make use of the extra sunlight then...
I dunno about you city slickers down south but even in the middle of winter I had plenty of time when I got home from work to go down to the beach or go for a run.
Maybe Sydney should just have it and let them deal with the stupid time warp every year instead of us.

Queensland needs to get with the times and bring in daylight savings. I don't like being woken by the sun at 4am so Daylight Savings is a brilliant idea.

To be fair I wouldn't care so much if both NSW and QLD were consistent. The biggest beef I've got is that they draw the line in the middle of a region with a lot of business going on. It's so bad that we've got businesses on both sides of the border that are doing their own thing, and either ignoring DST in NSW or going with it in QLD. It's really fucking stupid when you consider the gold coast airport is literally right on the border, makes it a nightmare to organise anything.
The problem is that its a silly idea in northern parts of the country since they are closer to the tropics, their days are long and hot enough already even in winter. But because we have such an antiquated inflexible system of government there is seemingly no other option that entire states voting whether or not to have it.
But it seems to me that it causes more problems than it resolves. By far less people are inconvenienced by not having it at all. Alternatively, why not just move our clocks an hour forward permanently? Change our time zone to +11 along the east coast and make it consistent across all states. Would get rid of the state border time warp and the silly practice of changing our clocks every 6 months.

I remember hearing a couple of years ago that they were considering updating the Gold Coast to Daylight Savings since the border splits a city in half.

I heard that too but capn Blight vetoed it, she refuses to have multiple time zones within the same state which is asinine as its clearly a better solution than what's in place now.

Yeah it'd be a crapload less confusing and more efficient than having multiple timezones on opposite sides of the street.

I like playing oblivion on my Xbox during daylight so daylight savings works for me.
