Hai Chal, oh rulerz of the internetz...

A serious technical question if I may... I had a user drop by my office today, and after the guard dog had finished mauling his corpse for disturbing my latest episode of American Dad, he managed to strangle out a question... "should I use PPoE or PPoA as my authentication method for my DSL connection?"... I knew the answer of course, but in accordance with my own personal code of ethics I handled it a different way:

Being a seasoned technical professional, I berated the user accordingly and scoffed at him, and after I was done with that I had a glass of scotch, then back to berating the user... after my throat was hoarse and sore from the mocking, I kicked him in the ass, shoved him out of the office with a scrawled note about "reading the fucking manual"...

What I want to know is, what would you have answered his question with?

Well Virgil.... i'm glad you asked!

Before I answer the question you need to understand that there are 4 types of IT guru's.

* You have the help desk type, which you can guarantee will ask "have you turned it off and on again?"

* You have your IT professionals, people like you, Bohica & Donut..these people go from client to client and solve every problem...including their overstocking of coffee and any spare stationary laying about.

* Then there's Steve job's, Bill gates types, who revolutionize the computing world.

* THEN ..there's me.

You see I dont think outside the box, I shit on the box and rub my rosy cheeks into my shit thats ON the box until it begins to dry, then I piss on the box to undry my shit, rub some more before commencing to teabag the box with my nuts that are covered in shit from smearing against the box, THEN I take my face and I.......I'm sorry, where was I?  Oh yes boxes.

So the point is with octum thinking (Next step up from quantum and how I work) no 2 answers will ever be the same as its an ever changing universe.

Luckily in this case as the question relates to PPoE and PPoA, which I instantly relate to either poopie or popeye due to Octum thinking and the fact that they really do sound the same if treated as words huh!

So the dying man would have gasped out "Popeye" and I would've walked back inside, returned a moment later and then pegged a full can of spinach fair at his fucking head believing that he has popeye like abilities and would eat the spinach and suddenly be ok.

OR

I would've shit in my own hand and thrown THAT at him...it WAS his last request, who am I to deny it?

Ahhh she truly is a mysterious universe isn't she?  And whilst you may believe that there's is not a shred of IT in these answers if you look deep enough you'll discover that these answers are chock full of universal IT truths......... *looks mysterious*

Hope that helps,

Look, based on your answer... I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I reckon you did your technical training at Data#3... amirite?  Smiley

PS:  Sorry Syk... I am sure Data #3 has improved immensely in the last few years, but back when I was working there, Chalice's methods would have put him in line for an Account Manager's role Smiley
