it better not be because they were hyping up how much better it is on PC than consoles, even to the point of sending journalists the PC copy for review (usually most publishers send xbox/ps3 versions).

Hmm..dont know, look at the gameplay vid, then the half life 2 clip...doesn't look like much improvement for a brand new PC focused game huh? Looks like they've used the HL2 engine to me, or they just went 1/2 arsed on it graphically. look at 6:40 in the DE clip and how the guard "walks" up the stairs...old school |

Well mine finally arrived in the post yesterday, I'd ordered it from UK because even with postage it was cheaper to do it that way than buy locally or from Steam. It included a note that customs had opened it for inspection, WTF?
anyway, the game rocks, best game I've played all year. Graphics are great, textures are a lot sharper than most console ports like Mass Effect 2 for example.
Gameplay is awesome, really got a similar feel to the original.
Basically go buy it

Great game, really good fun, you can sink tonnes of hours into it. Also Chal, graphics at some points are mediocre, for example some cutscenes, but generally really strong, also definetly not on the Source engine, it would die with this kinda stuff.
