Chalice,

In keeping with the theme of serious Ask Chalice threads about fitness, I'm hoping I can get some advice.

As you may remember, I'm a big bastard. That's changing, but I'm interested to know if there's more I can do.

Currently I walk/jog about 4ks each day. My average speed is about 6kph. I've cut down on sugary things like soft drinks and junk food. I am losing weight so it's obviously working, but is there anything I can do to speed it up? Keep in mind I'm poor and lazy.

I'd also like to build my upper body strength. I don't want to become Arnie or anything. Mainly just get some strength and tone.

Hya Zoo,

and here - http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

work out what your calorie intake should be and stick to it.

Keep up the jogging, do push ups and sit ups as well buddy.  If you can afford it get a barbell and do some bicep curls etc as well.

Take a scentless fish oil supplement  (from the supermarket & 6 per day) , 1 centrum daily as well.

Replace either breakfast or lunch with a pure whey protein shake for your protein needs..you need protein so you're not burning off muscle as well as fat dude.

I've recently started as well and been limiting myself to 1000 calories a day, cycling at least 5km nightly (knees are fucked from army, so cyclings a good option for me) + training on the bag etc and doing the above myself and I'm losing about 1- 2 kg a week

heres some help, i lost 1 kilo in 1 day last week, i climbed and descended 110 stories (not flights) of stairs, so 55 stories up and 55 down. find a 5 story builidng and climb up and down 11 times a day

I've got plenty of stress as it is. I work 10 hours days, and my girlfriend asked me last night, why I haven't asked her to marry me yet...
