i say every time a child is found to be bullying a victim (proven), the child's parents have to pay for the counseling of the victim and the cost to education services. i bet ratboy would behave himself if daddy keeps locking him in the shed everytime they have to pay a fine.

That was in our local paper a couple of weeks ago. Front page article saying that police will be there and anyone who shows up for the fight will be charged. Our work got a warning from the centre management there because we have a branch in that shopping centre. Total waste of police resources, this guy deserves to get charged, same as if he had called in a false bomb threat.

Can't blame the police for reacting like that. From you said it is very similar to how the Cronulla "riots" happened. The event was promoted through social networking, sms's and main stream media. Had the media and the police acted early like your locals did, Cronulla would never have happened. Instead the media flared it up for days, and the police weren't ready for it. Sounds to me like the police have learned.

Oh yeah, police definitely did the right thing, the guy who started it should be held at least partly responsible for the police's time.

that was absolute bullshit. I was going through who is affected by crimes and how (in my legal class) and it shows how the community is affected as we have to waste our money on the police having to go to places like that to stop idiots.

btw it costs us $5.5 billion (through taxes of course) to deal with criminals every year. that's 5.5 billion that could've been used on schools, hospitals, nurses and police that's been used for criminals.

oh and btw it'd be hard to charge the kid for filming as he's probably under the age of 15 and comes under the Doli Incapax principle

I thought this article relevent. I find this stuff interesting because we are in a time of change. I've said it on these forums before, we have no idea how the internet is going to change, and already has changed our society. As a society we are still trying to understand what it is we are doing, and what is acceptable and what is not
