i have lived  in (for more than 3 years in each) : Melbourne, Hobart, Manchester and just outside of New York. I have been too countless more cities. My opinion: All cities have their positives and negatives, and which is best depends on you.

hey, i resemble one of those comments....you know cow, Sydney is the sister city to San Francisco, or shuold I say brother city......

as for the riots, I was living about 5 minutes walk from the centre of said riot, and was there that day. It is the biggest media blow up I have ever been witness to.. Sure there was some violence, but when you've got 30,000 or so blokes wandering around chugging down long necks of course there is going to be violence. Considering the number of people and the amount of alcohol I saw being consumed they were practically singing koombyah for the number of fights there were. If you saturated any town with media on a saturday night you'd get more footage of fights than they claim made a riot in Cronulla. Sensationalist media, created the event, then turned presented it in the way that best profited them.

Anyways, of the towns I've lived in, Maroochydore in the Sunshine Coast has the best memories. From what I've seen of Melbourne I liked it.

You know what? I think you're right. I've got good vague memories of walking to 711 in Maroochydore to buy microwave burgers while really stoned.

And from what I remember of seeing of Melbourne, I liked it. But who doesn't like tits?

Whereabouts in NY did you live cowcar?

I wouldn't want to live there personally, had a few cool things to visit but overall it was crowded and the streets and air was filthy. It was very safe though, had no qualms wandering around at night.

Unlike San Francisco which was filled with bums and hookers, apart from that it generally seemed like a more pleasant place to live though. Yes they do have a gay district where the power poles are painted in rainbow colours.

Funnily enough Columbus, Ohio was the US city that reminded me the most of an Australian city, mainly due to the river going through the centre of it. Unlike Brisbane it had a very sensible road network, streets were mainly arranged in a grid pattern and there was a ring road freeway going around the city making it very easy to navigate, Brisbane on the other hand has had very little thought or planning going into its road networks, its just a mish-mash of paved horse and sulky tracks, if you don't know where you're going its very easy to get lost.

Gold coast, while technically not a city, is OK during the day, very touristy, but turns to shit at night when all the scumbags come out to prey on the vapid skanks. Best avoided to be honest. The people there seem to have an attitude too.

Personally I can't stand cities and much prefer to have a bit of space so I live out in a semi-rural area Smiley

Ohh Z00 has reminded me. Another positive of Melbourne city is that unlike Launceston, if you go into the city, every single woman there is fucking hot. I swear it was just all these chicks in either tights or short skirts or some combination.

And the half asian/half white birds. Jesus titty fucking Christ there is some talent.
