Its fake, Melon explodes can see the blackish smoke from the charge used to blow it up.

Muzzle velocity of a .50cal (ON AVERAGE PPL..I know they vary) is around 3000 fps or 914.4 meters a second.

He is standing at around 150-200 meters away so between the round leaving the barrel and the melon exploding would be around .2 of a second.its longer than that.

Also from a .50cal round you would hear a lound thump..not just a crack from the rifle firing on the close up melon shots...he would also be moved more by the round passing that close....Finally his head would rock backwards as the round hits the melon and travels thru...even though its a soft target, the velocity of the round meeting ANY resistance would cause this.
