Advantages and disadvantages of running ssd as opposed to the normal hdd is it really worth getting one (ssd) considering the price of the fuckers  , is it better to run your operating system from it or just run games from it  Shocked Huh?

Totally worth getting!

I use mine as my OS drive and windows fly's along in terms of responsiveness and boot-up times.
I have my favorite games installed on the SSD to decrease load times as well.

Once you get an ssd you will not be disappointed the overall experience breaths new life into any pc.

They are considerably cheap now days @ $99 for 126GB.

yep.. totally worth getting, and setup like this too. Keep important backups on your normal drive though... but this is probably the best upgrade you can do to your pc (bang for buck)

Budh,

we have been installing, them in pc's as the main os drive solely, we have been setting the profile data eg. users direcctories to the second drive...

when you are looking at ssd, starting for you @ $66.00 plus shipping, they are more achieveable...

Wouldn't the user profile being on another drive slow things down a bit?.

Yep, SSDs are always a good thing if you can afford them. Run OS and a select few of your most load intensive games. (I.E Games you play a lot and heavily instanced games such as skyrim/oblivion)

I wouldn't build a computer without one now. SSD for OS and HDD for storage. SSD performance improves with size and begins to degrade as they get full. For this reason I wouldn't get anything less than a 120GB drive. I have two 120GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD drives configured in RAID0 on my gaming PC as it was cheaper than buying a 240GB drive. I'm in the Windows 7 desktop within 15-20 seconds from switching on the computer.

yep SSD for the os and another 1tb HDD for the games. i only have bf3 and MWO installed on the SSD and it makes a world of difference loading into games but otherwise not much else

the 775 intel are really good on SSD as well good way to make them last at least another 6 months to a yeah

Depends on what your currently using.
I was using 2x black edition HDD's in RAID 0 and the load times in games was slightly better. Windows boot up was def faster.

The issue I have with SSD is that I wanted to run SSD for O/S and RAID0 for storage. BIOS wont wont support it - grrr.

from ANY single HDD an SSD is a big speed upgrade.
