Hi some of you may not know me but im Epsoma. I have been making a bf3 montage and had a few questions about adobe after effects that i hope someone can help me answer.
So I downloaded AAF today and I wanted to put some special effects into my montage that is already completely made up and in time with the music and stuff. I want to put some effects onto it so here goes.
1 If I want to put effects onto a shot in the montage do i have to only use that scene in adobe after effects? like do i have to take it out of the movie and put it into the adobe after effects. I thought it was only like an addon to premier pro like it adds effects to it and shit.
Hopefully you guys can help me out.

Thanks

Hey Epsoma,

After Effects is a fully fledged visual effects composition suite, it is quite a complex program and people spend a long time doing courses specifically to learn how to use it. AE is used to create custom visual effects and add it to 10 second(ish) compositions of film. After effects is not an addon to Premier. That is like saying that Photoshop is an addon to paint, or Maya/3dsMax is an addon to Windows Movie Maker.  Wink

I spent a number of months last year learning the basics to edit a short film I created for my VCE.
Check out these tutorials, should take a few hours and then you'll get the basics of how to navigate around and make minor changes in AE. http://www.videocopilot.net/basic/

If you have some specific questions feel free to ask me.  Smiley
