Title: Side cut of engine @ 14000rpm Post by: DonutKing on 26/05/2010, 09:40 PM Here are a couple of videos of a cut-away view inside a BMW S1000RR motorcycle engine
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-ymU7ETnnY This is insane. Its amazing that those little springs can open and close the valves that many times a second. Note the oil spraying everywhere :) Here's another one showing the underside of the valves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed-l2Ot_d9c I'm amazed that at the speed that these valves open and close, there is enough time for the cylinder to draw in air/fuel from the intake, and push out the exhaust gases, all in a fraction of a second. Think about this the next time you give your car/bike a bit of gas ;) Title: Re: Side cut of engine @ 14000rpm Post by: MrX on 29/05/2010, 10:28 PM ROFL its seems like the valves just spin and don't open when running at high RPM
