Wondering if together we can compile a list of what everything comes from?

My input:

Tiberium: C&C
Naquadah: Stargate
Kryptonite: Superman
Chemical X: Powerpuff Girls
Energon: Transformers
Vespene: Starcraft
Orichalcum: Various (Atlantis-Related)
Adamantite: Staple Fantasy Mineral
Carbonite: Star Wars

Unobtainium is actually an old expression used to describe a material or device that was expensive or in limited supply. The writers of Avatar were too lazy to think of a name for the substance in the movie so they just called it unobtainium, the word has been around long before that though.

Also if you really want to know about this stuff http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_elements,_materials,_isotopes_and_atomic_particles

wikipedia truly has an article for everything  ???

also my contribution: melange from dune

Mithirl - WoW
Thorium - WoW

Thorium is a naturally occurring, slightly radioactive metal. It is estimated to be about three to four times more abundant than uranium in the Earth's crust. It has been considered a waste product in mining rare earths, so its abundance is high and cost low.

Mithril has been in Lord of the Rings - Written way before wow was developed.

As mythril was in LOTR, it's quite likely it was present in folklore and mythology in some part of Europe long before even then.

mythril the metal was created by tolkin however he got the idear from the word myth-rael wich was a brestplate in arthurian legend that was seposedly indestructable and its only weekness was a gap at the bottom in wich arthur was stabbed by his son sir mordred and killed (a little fantacy history for anyone who is interested)

p.s mike this is primaraly a fps clan and quoteing anything from wow will most likely get you flamed :)

I'd just like to point out that I USED to play WoW, but not to any respectable (within WoW) level.

So I'm neutral on the whole thing. Unless of course you play Alliance - in which case, FWOOM!!
