Supreme Commander - worth getting the original for $25NZ?

I'm a BIG fan of RTS games, but I'm not really sure what this one in particular is like..
Also - if I do get it, should I get the vanilla or the stand-alone expansion?

I like the first one, but it's pretty resource hungry.

I think my new computer should be able to handle it..

Intel i5 720 (I think)
4gb DDR3 RAM
Radeon 5850 (1gb GFX)

You might have to turn the settings down a bit or not have the max unit limit.

It can get chuggy on my i7 920, 6 gig of DDR3 RAM and GTX275

same could be said about crysis but it is a very power hungry

Jstar, I play with the 1000 unit cap.

That's up to 8000 units, with projectile physics and pretty shield effects.

I love this game and will be happy to skirmish with ya whenever your ready..dont let Damit in though...he fukin rolls ya :)

Its worth getting, is even resource hungry on my i7 950 2x GTX 295's 12GB ram...it plays it perfectly on high settings with 1000unit cap..but thats how far you have to go to get it perfect...still hell playable on lower settings and you wont even notice the difference

but yes it is a good game

the main reason u see alot of mixed reviews is how is played and requires alot of micro managing with resouces etc

also if you do get just get the original as the expansion is a seperate game
