Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: MOSH on 18/03/2010, 02:13 PM So, who wants to move :) I'm going there for work in November/January around then.Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: KARNAGE on 18/03/2010, 02:24 PM I've had similar DL speeds, the most I can remember is 124.4 MB/s and the wierdest thing of all was I was in Bendigo (a country town in Victoria). hmm, how about next meet we go to Amsterdam :P legalised pot will screw everyone over :P
Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: Z00111111 on 18/03/2010, 02:33 PM Somehow I think it lied to you... I doubt Bendigo has gigabit internet.
Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: KARNAGE on 18/03/2010, 02:37 PM Somehow I think it lied to you... I doubt Bendigo has gigabit internet. It was on the Telstra next G network.Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: Z00111111 on 18/03/2010, 02:41 PM Sure it wasn't 124.4KB/s?
Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: KARNAGE on 18/03/2010, 02:47 PM Sure it wasn't 124.4KB/s? absolutely, saw the speed and was like :oo, and btw it was ballarat (another country victorian town), not bendigo Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: Jstar on 18/03/2010, 02:48 PM Ballarat is teh cool :P

Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: Paradox on 18/03/2010, 04:43 PM Vietnam has better internet than NZ :(
Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: Damit on 19/03/2010, 06:40 AM You can bug ie6 to show stupid DL speeds
Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: MrX on 19/03/2010, 01:15 PM Karnage no where in Oz for under $5000/month has that speed buddy.
Fastest internet for users comes in at 10mb/s download 100mb speed Sorry your computer is lying Plus Next G is 7.2MB/s which equates to 600kb/s downloads in the best of areas Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: DonutKing on 19/03/2010, 01:36 PM Sure you weren't copying something from over the local network?
Because 125MB/s just happens to be 1 gigabit/second - same as gigabit ethernet. In reality though due to protocol overheads etc you are very rarely going to get a transfer rate that high. And yeah you're not going to get gigabit internet speeds in Bendigo or Ballarat or any place like that. Unless you mean 124 megabits per second rather than megabytes, which is still pretty damn unlikely outside of a CBD - that's 15 megabytes a second. Were you downloading a large file? I suspect that what might have happened is that whatever you were downloading was getting cached by a proxy, and when it finished downloading it sent the entire file in one big go to the browser, which then reported that it got all this data in one second. The browser would have sat there saying its downloading super slow at like 1% than all of a sudden the whole file is complete. Title: Re: WTB this net... Gief Post by: Damit on 19/03/2010, 03:25 PM That's bassicaly how it worked in ie6 I used to do it for fun
start a large dl -click on the link for I to say save open etc leave it for an hour then click save and watch that thing go at some stupid speed |
