Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: DonutKing on 17/12/2009, 06:40 PM I bought the same pack, there's a replacement BF2.exe to make it work with PR, I'm not at home at the moment but I'll dig it up for you later tonight
Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: DonutKing on 17/12/2009, 07:41 PM Here ya go, you can download the BF2.exe here, it works for both vanilla BF2 and PR, jsut replace the existing one. You might need to register on their forums to download it.

It's standalone i think you might have to wait a while there, it's still at least 24mths in development. mind you the cost will be minimal. Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: MOSH on 19/12/2009, 01:50 AM quick info on PR2!
http://www.bigdgaming.net/showthread.php?t=7540 (http://www.bigdgaming.net/showthread.php?t=7540) THEY WANT MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS? can't we just one off? Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: Z00111111 on 19/12/2009, 07:46 AM A $30 yearly subscription sounds more than reasonable to me. They want to go with subscriptions because they know the community isn't huge and that they can't count on ongoing new sales to fund them. I'm happy for them. If they can get enough subscription payments to fund them working on PR full time I can't even imagine what awesome things they could pull off. They've done so much with BF2...
Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: Virgil83 on 19/12/2009, 08:11 AM Don't get me wrong, I am far from a hardcore PR player, but I've played it enough to both enjoy it, and appreciate the level of detail and work they've put in to making the game what it is.
I agree with Z00111111 wholeheartedly on this one, a monthly/yearly subscription seems fair to me, and it would undoubtedly allow them to take the Project Reality umm... project? LOL... to a whole new level. If they've managed to make it this far, with a fantastic game as the result, doing it unfunded... undoubtedly a funded team would be able to turn out an even better game. That being said, unlike a lot of people these days, I still have a tendancy to actually pay for things that I use... so I don't mind the subscription model... I can see why others would be against it though... it will pretty much kill any change of grabbing it via torrent :P Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: DonutKing on 19/12/2009, 08:33 AM These are all good points but a subscription model might discourage new players, since there are plenty of other multiplayer games that only require a once off fee.
I guess it works for MMO's like WOW but then PR is nt an MMO and MMO's are attracting an arguably more casual gamer audience. A relatively unknown game like PR might struggle with subscriptions. Unless they plan to continue supporting and developing PR1 for free, and use that as an advertisement for PR2 as an enhanced version of the free game... Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: Z00111111 on 19/12/2009, 09:17 AM 5 dollars to try a game for a month on Steam sounds reasonable. It's not like you're locked into a contract. I think Steam will help them get new players. There'll be alot more publicity, and alot of people are going to try a game that looks better than CoD4 graphically just because it's only a few dollars.
Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: Sillen on 19/12/2009, 09:39 AM quick info on PR2! Quick? Took six months to get here! 8)Title: Re: Project Reality - Installation Issue Post by: MOSH on 19/12/2009, 06:16 PM 5 dollars to try a game for a month on Steam sounds reasonable. ZOO is quite right, Steam reaches a rather large area of PC gaming today and if the Gaming Gods are in favour of it then i believe PR2 will have a good attraction from the audience. |
