Guys picture this, noraa drivin along whilstlin a song, shit that didn't sound good.....( in Hertz rental) 3 tonne truck, opens like a puzzle box, the lid peels back, sides collapse, dadda everyone can see what i have in my little truck he tells the story so much better, i tried my contact at hertz to get photos for the insurance but to no avail Title: Re: Noraa at work Post by: Noraa78 on 18/12/2008, 07:30 PM ok, the story,......
taking about 50K worth of gym equipment to a photographers for a BMW shoot. So i turn off the motorway down montague st and head for sth melb. looked at the sign on the rail bridge over the road.... max hieght 2.4m (i think can't quite remember) look for the height of the vehicle on the windscreen sticker, like they have in the budget trucks,.. nothing, so i figure what the hey! :PDT_Armataz_01_42: got the cab under the bridge and the next thing i know, i catch a glimps of the underside of the bridge then back to the road. WTF!!!!?????? :PDT_Armataz_01_23: look in the rearvision mirror and there is a nice peice of sheet metal about a foot long by about 6-7 ft wide on the road,.... then i see a peice of sheet metal bend down and obsure my view FARK!!!!!! pull over to inspect the damage,.. no roof, sides banana peeled, and the whole cage on the back has been titled back at about 700. So out go the usual phone calls etc etc. Found out that i had damn near snapped the chassis in two just behind the cab, total write off. Best thing,. i pleaded my case about no visible height warnings etc etc, got away with it :PDT_Armataz_01_12: Title: Re: Noraa at work Post by: Ice on 18/12/2008, 10:26 PM wowowow how long ago was this.. and was it on the news?
Or was that a bigger scale one with like a semi trailor i remeber something like this happening. Title: Re: Noraa at work Post by: Noraa78 on 19/12/2008, 05:58 AM i think trucks shortening themselves on that particular bridge is a very common occurance, so no i didn't make the news.
and it was only a little 3 ton truck like in the picture Title: Re: Noraa at work Post by: naf on 19/12/2008, 06:27 AM i think trucks shortening themselves on that particular bridge is a very common occurance, so no i didn't make the news. and it was only a little 3 ton truck like in the picture Yeah it is on that bridge... i've seen at least 3 happen there. There is also the light rail underpass near the South Melbourne market, that everytime it floods someone thinks they can drive through 1.5 metres of water in a sedan. Thats very lol. Title: Re: Noraa at work Post by: Noraa78 on 19/12/2008, 06:31 AM there is a underpass in dandy that gets alot of those wannabe submarine cars travelling through it too.
very lol indeed, the look on their faces when they are stuck, can't open the door for fear of drowning and no-one wants to get wet so they just stand point and laugh Title: Re: Noraa at work Post by: bageled on 19/12/2008, 07:08 AM thats pretty funny.....did you get any photos?
