Hey gang

Going to a LAN this Saturday. Its been 15 or 20 yrs since I been to one. Last time it was a 10/100 hub and a bunch of cables everywhere and old CRT monitors and mess - but good fun.

Things have changed and I have read the rules for the CQ LAN that coming up but some things were left out. So question from those who have been, any tips ?

Do I turn off all my Shares, lock my Firewall to be tighter than a fishes arse, take a joystick or a controller or everything (except speakers)

Its CSGO and LOL so I am on a backfoot there as I play neither but am going to pay the entry to compete and try my hardest at doing a DI represent in the comps with others and try to win a prize :)

Some quick feedback before Saturday would be great.

Also does anyone have a DI wallpaper so I can put it on my PC / Screen so others can see?

it is really up to you what you share with the LAN, all the lans down in brisbane tend to let the user base manage how they share things and tend to turn a blind eye to it.
in the morning before you go i would make sure everything is up to date (do a reboot in the morning so steam can do its thing)
if there are racing games a controller wont go astray but really ends up what are you comfortable with and want o keep and eye on that day.
security - it is up to you if you want to put a password for the login. most people do. but usually with the ones i go to everyone respects other peoples setups and tends not to mess with it. unless you know them well and they get a joke.

as for the wallpaper... i dont know ... is there anything in the gallery?

If its anything like the old school lans i went to 15 years ago...

1. Don't be a cunt
2. Allow the leeches to leech (especially the porn)
3. Don't sit there and wank over porn under a blanket.
4. If your sleeping in your chair and people are making too much noise... Revert to Tip 1.
5. Bring plenty of alcohol and ciggies.
6. Don't ogle the hot nerd chick, she'll grab your lolly bags and shove em down your throat then kick you when they descend again.
7. Save your pizza boxes, as they can be used to cover up spew puddles.
8. Take a bowie knife or a kukri with you just incase.
9. Pwn everyone at everything.
10. Ignore everything i wrote.

Very unrelated. You know how hard it is to paint DI logos on killer bees to go to a LAN to promote thing? I had to give up the idea and stick with poisoned honey, Viagra honey and alcohol honey production instead.
